Organized in 1992 to "promote the educational and instructional expansion of youth to recreational activities and preservation of natural resources, and further promote and provide instruction and education of youth in the area of firearms, fishing, hunting and archery and further instill in youth an appreciation and preservation of natural resources of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania" (KSY Bylaws).
Each year we organize a youth field day that is hosted by a Blair County sportsmen club. The first youth field day in 1993, was hosted by Blair County Game, Fish & Forestry in Riggles Gap. Other hosts have been Hollidaysburg Sportsmen Club, Bellwood Sportsmen club and Tyrone Sportsmen club. We are a non profit, 501(c)(3) corporation.
Our field day is currently a half day event set up with 6 stations. Stations may consist of Archery, .22 rifle, muzzleloader, turkey calling, trap shooting and more. Kids between the ages of 6 to 16 are invited to participate. They are divided into groups, moving from station to station every 1/2 hour with lots of hands-on opportunities! Pre-registration is required.
